URGENT ONGOING Action!! Tell Seattle City and Public Library to Fight Censorship and Uphold the Civil Rights of Free Speech and Assembly

The Issue:

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the urgency and precedent-setting nature of the issue at the Seattle Library, GCAC has decided to continue to focus on this issue. What happens at this library will set precedence for libraries across the US. and also reverberates out into other countries This is a global issue. Free speech is at stake for all.

The trans activists have raised a loud voice, plus they plan a rally the day of the event (if they don’t get it cancelled before then). We are asking you to be louder. Take all the actions you can by phone, email and tweets and to spread the word! Get your friends and associates to take action. This is a golden opportunity to amplify our voice and turn the tide.

BACKGROUND RECAP: Seattle Public Library booked a Women’s Liberation Front private event on Feb 1, 2020, “Fighting the New Misogyny: A Feminist Critique of Gender Identity.” Trans activists are deluging the Library with factless propaganda, harassment and a scheduled rally to shut the event down. Executive Director and Chief Librarian, Marcellus Turner, has issued a statement in response to concerns voiced over the event. We need to be loud and visible in our protection of our civil rights of free speech and free assembly.

What You Can Do:

Make our collective voice stronger than the propaganda and harassment! Phone, email and tweet the Library, Mayor and City Council. Urge them to challenge censorship and protect intellectual freedom, free speech and assembly. (“Challenging censorship” and protecting “intellectual freedom” are their words and are official Library policy.)
